It is a short professional story, usually written in the third person, that shows your leadership, results, and expertise. The reason for it will determine how I write it. Whether it’s for a website, speaker introduction, board application, press material, or networking will drive the exact format.

How is a bio different from a resume?

A resume is a list of jobs written for an employer. A bio is a readable story written for an audience, such as clients, investors, partners, or event organizers. While resumes are for everyone, bios are usually needed for higher-level executives.

How long will my bio be?

It depends on where it will be used. A conference program or website usually requires a short version, while a networking bio can carry more detail. I write the length that fits your purpose.

Can you write more than one version?

Yes. Many executives need various versions for different uses. I match the tone and length to each one.

What do you need from me to get started?

Your resume or LinkedIn URL, your key achievements, and where the bio will appear. I will ask you a few questions to bring out the details that set you apart.

Do you write in the first person or the third person?

Either. Third person is the standard for formal use, while first person often works well for LinkedIn. We will choose what suits you best.

How does the process work?

Essentially, I just need your old resume and LinkedIn URL to get started. I’ll ask some clarifying questions to ensure we include the right information for your audience, and then I’ll write your first draft. This document may be graphical or more straightforward, depending on your requirements. I’ll send it, you’ll review it, I’ll update it with any changes you need, and then it will be ready for use. The entire process goes as quickly as it takes for you to get back to me on the questions I ask.
